Depression Symptoms

Constant depression symptoms can include having a generally depressed or sad mood; not being interested in activities that the patient once loved or was passionate about; losing weight or gaining weight due to a marked change in appetite or eating behaviors; not being able to sleep or experiencing other sleeping difficulties, such as sleeping too much or too often; being restless or unable to sit still; constant fatigue; becoming easily irritable; having difficulty with or being unable to make any type of decision, small or large; thinking of death constantly; having suicidal thoughts; and attempting suicides. These symptoms may also be noticed by close friends or family members but not by the sufferer, so it is important to take loved ones’ comments seriously. When the person is experiencing depression and anxiety at the same time, all or some of these symptoms will be present in addition to overwhelming and usually overpowering feelings of guilt and worry or apprehension. Often times, the patient will not even worry about logical things, but about very small or mundane ones. In short, life and everything about it begins to feel like a chore.

Obviously, this is not pleasant, and patients should seek anxiety depression treatment as soon as possible. Anxiety depression treatment will usually consist of psychotherapy and the use of antidepressant drugs. In some cases, only one of these may be necessary, depending on the cause of the condition. Many people are embarrassed about their depression, but it is important to remember that, like any other medical condition, it is not the fault of the sufferer and that it can be treated. Treatment may require a lot of work on the part of the patient, and it may take trying out a few different types of medication to find the right solution, but health and happiness can be found again. The longer constant depression symptoms go untreated, the worse they will become.
